Browns rookie DT Mike Hall Jr. arrested after alleged domestic dispute
View Date:2025-01-07 13:16:15
Cleveland Browns rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. was arrested Tuesday morning by the Avon Police Department following a Monday night domestic dispute in which he allegedly threatened his fiancee with a gun, an Avon Police spokesperson confirmed to USA TODAY Network and the Beacon Journal.
Hall was being booked by Avon Police as of 10:45 a.m. According to a police spokesman, he would then be taken to Avon Lake Municipal Court for an arraignment.
The Browns issued a statement saying they were aware of the incident and gathering more information.
According to the police reports, the Lorain County 911 dispatch contacted the Avon police at approximately 10:01 p.m. Monday to state that police assistance was needed at a residence before the call was cut off. Avon police dispatch called back to the residence, reported to be the home of the mother of Hall's child, and spoke with a woman who said Hall "had pushed her daughter (name redacted) and struck her with a baby bottle."
Hall, according to the report, had "left the residence in a Dodge TRX and was likely headed to the Residence Inn in Middleburg Heights."

The report states that altercation between Hall and his fiancee began earlier in the day around an argument involving the "financial needs" for her daughter, who is not Hall's biological child. It escalated when she refused to unlock her phone so Hall could look at messages between her and the daughter's biological father.
According to the report, Hall "began yelling at (name redacted), shouting profanities," which was described by her as "insane." He continued to "go back and forth between the kitchen and their bedroom," the report states, "gathering (name redacted's) belongings and throwing them outside" while also demanding that "she leave."
Hall then, according to the report, "attempted to physically force her out by pushing her from behind toward the front door." When she sat down against the front door to "prevent (Hall) from pushing her outside," the report states, Hall "grabbed (name redacted) by the feet and dragged her on her back across the porch and down to the end of the driveway," which scraped her arms against the concrete.
The two re-entered the house, with Hall, according to the report, renewing his "verbal assault." As she ran toward a first-floor bedroom, Hall "pursued her, and upon reaching the room, he pushed (name redacted) into the door, causing damage to the door frame."
Hall, the report indicates, began tossing the daughter's belongings outside. He also re-iterated the threat to his fiancee, "forcibly pushed here up the stairs to their bedroom," where he would eventually "punch a hole in the bedroom door out of frustration" and she sought shelter in the bedroom closet.
The incident escalated when Hall "retrieved one of his two handguns," according to the report. The exact model was identified as "either a .40 caliber Glock 23 or a 9mm Smith & Wesson M&P Shield."
Hall, the report states, "pressed the firearm against her temple and threated, 'I will (expletive) end it all. I don't care."
The two women fled outside of the house, where they contacted the police. Hall then, according to the report, "locked the women out of the residence and fled the scene in his vehicle."
The reporting officer stated in the report that they "observed several indicators of a physical altercation." That included a damaged bedroom door frame and a hole in a bedroom door. Two handguns, identified as "a Glock and a Smith & Wesson," were "lying on the mattress in the game room."
Hall, who turned 21 on June 13, was the Browns' first pick in last April's NFL draft. The ex-Buckeye was taken in the second round, at pick No. 54.
Injuries to the Browns' defensive tackles had opened up an opportunity in training camp for Hall to get more playing time than some had expected. He played 29 snaps in the Browns' preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers, 45% of the Browns' defensive snaps, while recording one assisted tackle.
