Jana Kramer Reveals She Lost “Almost Half Her Money” to Mike Caussin in Divorce

Jana Kramer is looking back.
Three years after the One Tree Hill alum finalized her divorce with ex Mike Caussin, she shared insight into the financial woes of their split after not signing a pre-nuptial agreement.
"In my last marriage to my husband of almost seven years, I did not have him sign a prenup to me," Jana shared on the I Do, Part 2 podcast with Jennie Garth, Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes Sept. 25. "It was like, this is my one forever and we're getting married. When he cheated, the first round of affairs when he was in rehab, I made him sign a postnup, but that did not hold up in court."
And when the divorce proceedings began, Jana said Mike told her "he was going to fight the prenup."
She emphasized, "I earned most of the money in that relationship."
Per their divorce agreement, the 40-year-old—who shares Jolie, 8, and Jace, 5, with the former NFL player, 37—maintains custody of the kids about two-thirds of the time, pays $3,200 per month in child support and provides their kids' health insurance, according to documents previously obtained by E! News.
"I realized how much I lost—almost half of my money in my last divorce, money that I worked really hard for," Jana said. "None of that money is for me. It's for my children."
So, when Jana knew she was going to marry Allan Russell—whom she tied the knot with in July—she realized she had to have a prenup. And although she didn't want to, she knew it was necessary for her children's future.
"It was a really hard conversation to have because I have my entire team of people, lawyers and business managers looking out for me," she continued. "My lawyer was like, 'This is like getting health insurance.' But I'm like, I'm struggling with that."
When she spoke to Russell about it, he agreed. And as for the outcome? She added, "I'm not gonna actually say what the end decision was, but for me, it was a really tough conversation to have."
Meanwhile, Jana previously shared how looking back at past relationships and trauma helped her heal from the heartbreak after her split with Mike.
"The milestone for me was releasing years of shame I didn't realize I was carrying and realizing the key to my happiness," she told E! News in May. "No relationship, man, or external things were going to make me happy. I needed to be the one to love myself."
And as for her marriage with the Scottish soccer coach?
"It's a very respectful relationship," she told E!. "I don't think I've ever experienced something like that, where it's like he respects me so much and I respect him. There's so much love and respect. I'm like, 'Oh my god, what a concept!'"
